🎣 Fishing Job Guide
Whether you're in it for the peaceful waves, the thrill of the catch, or just looking to make some clean cash off the coast, fishing is one of the city’s most relaxed—but surprisingly rewarding—jobs.
From humble pierside casts to deep-sea hunts for rare fish, here’s everything you need to know to become a master angler.
Step 1: Visit the Fisherman
Your journey starts at the Fisherman blip, clearly marked on your GPS.
There, the local fisherman sells all the essentials:
- Fishing Rods – Basic to advanced, depending on your level
- Bait – The better the bait, the better the catch
- He’ll also buy your fish when you’re ready to sell
⚠️ Heads up: There is a chance your rod may break during use, especially if you’re out at sea catching bigger, more aggressive fish.
It’s highly recommended to purchase a spare rod if you’re planning a long fishing trip or heading offshore.
Better to be prepared than stuck floating with nothing to cast!
Make sure you stock up on both a rod and some bait (maybe a backup rod too) before heading out.
Step 2: Head to the Water
Once you’re geared up, it’s time to fish. You have two main options:
- Fish from the shore or a pier – Easy access, low risk, great for beginners
- Take a boat out to sea – More chance of catching valuable or rare fish the further you go
- Bring extra bait and be prepared for a longer trip
Once you’re at your spot, use your rod to cast out and wait for a bite.
Every successful catch earns you XP.
Step 3: Level Up & Unlock Better Gear
Fishing features a level system (1–3) based on how many fish you catch:
Level | Unlocked Gear | Benefits |
---|---|---|
Level 1 | Basic Rod & Bait | Small/common fish |
Level 2 | Upgraded Rod & Bait | Higher-value fish more frequently |
Level 3 | Advanced Gear | Rare and exotic fish, faster bite times |
As you level up, visit the fisherman again to purchase better rods and bait, unlocking the chance to catch more valuable fish and improve your profits.
Step 4: Selling Your Catch
When your inventory’s full or your bait runs out, head back to the fisherman.
- He’ll offer a flat price per fish, depending on type and rarity
- You can also restock on bait to head back out
đź’ˇ Bonus RP Opportunity
Some business owners—especially restaurant chefs and seafood suppliers—may be looking for fresh, player-caught fish for their recipes.
They may offer you higher prices or even ongoing supply deals.
These opportunities won’t be advertised. You’ll need to find them through RP, ask around, and make connections.
A little networking could seriously boost your income.
Tips for Aspiring Fishermen
- Start small—piers are perfect for beginners and easy to access
- Keep a boat handy if you're aiming for higher-tier fish
- Always bring extra bait—you don’t want to run out mid-trip
- Leveling up unlocks better income potential, so consistency pays off
- RP with chefs, restaurant owners, and market stalls for bigger profits
- Watch the weather—stormy seas can be rough
🗣️ A Word from the Locals...
"You ever hear about the guy who caught a glowing fish out by Paleto?
Swore it wasn’t natural. Some say the water’s cursed out there after dark.
Others say it’s just a rare catch worth a fortune.
Only one way to find out..."
Whether you’re a part-time pier fisher or a full-blown seafaring supplier, the fishing trade is a solid way to make your mark on the city—with plenty of room to grow, explore, and build real connections along the way.
